 Meter Readings
Accurate meter readings are a very important part of Twin Valleys Public Power District’s operations.  Due to the sparse nature of our population, it is not cost effective for Twin Valleys’ employees to read every meter in the district each month.  Therefore, rural customers and those in some of the small villages within the Twin Valleys’ service area are asked to read their meters and report those readings to Twin Valleys.

When should I read my meter?
As the billing card is mailed to you at about the same time every month, it is a good idea to read the meter and record the reading on the billing card the same day you receive the billing card.  Also, record the date and time you read the meter for your own information.  This not only insures that you read the meter at regular intervals, but may help pinpoint a usage problem should one occur sometime in the future.
Monthly meter readings are due by the last day of each and every month.  You may write your meter reading in the designated box on your billing card, call us on our toll-free number during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday), or submit your reading online by completing the Meter Reading Submission Form. If you call in your meter reading or submit it online, be sure to also provide your account and/or meter number.  The meter number can be found on your meter possibly on a metal tag or it may follow the word SHOP.

How do I read my meter?
Meter readings are typically five digits (the last digit may be a fixed “0”) and do not include decimals.  If you have a digital meter, the reading follows the code 001.

What happens if I do not turn in my meter reading?

If an accurate meter reading is not received by Twin Valleys for the month, that meter may be read at a charge by Twin Valleys’ employees.

What about meters that are not billed monthly?

District employees read meters for irrigation services in May, July, August, September and December each year.  Meters for accounts that are billed annually, such as stock pump services, are read in December each year by District employees as well.  The consumer does not have to read the meter for these types of services.  However, it is an excellent idea for the consumer to check on these services (and meter readings) periodically throughout the year to insure no usage is taking place for which they are not aware.
