Electric Heat

Saving $$ With Electric Heat

Electric heat, what a bargain!!  As the prices of fossil fuels continue to fluctuate, usually going up, electricity has remained very stable. In fact, electricity is one of the few items we consume that is below the consumer price index for the U.S. from 1995-2005. Maybe it’s time to find out how you can save money using electricity to heat your home or business. Let us, at Twin Valleys Public Power District, show you how this is possible.

The chart below shows you what the costs of a variety of fuel sources are to produce the same amount of heat. As you can see, electric heat options are the most beneficial for you.

COST PER ONE MILLION BTU’S OF USABLE HEAT

* Residential Natural Gas prices are based on heating season from October 2009 thru May 2010-Cambridge residence. Rates are the same for communities served by Twin Valleys Public Power District except franchise fees may vary.

* Electric rates are based on Twin Valleys Public Power District's residential or small commercial "All Electric" rate.

* Propane prices based on November 2010 quote of $1.62 per gallon.

* Average 1500 sq. ft. home in SW Nebraska uses 90 million btu's of heat in a season.

REBATES—If you are considering a new heating and air conditioning system, Twin Valleys Public Power District can provide you with additional savings. If you convert to electric heat from a fossil fuel, change your air conditioner to a heat pump, or simply upgrade your current electric heat pump, Twin Valleys Public Power District will provide a cash incentive of up to $1000 for residential customers.

TOTAL ELECTRIC RATE—When you convert to an electric heat system you may also qualify for a lower rate during the heating season.  Certain conditions need to be met. To find out more information call Twin Valleys Public Power District and we will give you the details.

If you are serious about saving money on your heating costs and conserving our nation’s resources, we need to talk.  Electricity is truly a bargain and will continue to be in the future. Part of the commitment of Twin Valleys Public Power District is to provide you with alternatives that will make your “quality of life” better. Be sure to call us or stop by our office and let us show you how this is possible.
